Connect ChatGPT to Thunders MCP

Written by Ines

Connect Thunders to ChatGPT so you can author, run and debug tests without leaving the chat.

Before you start

  • A Thunders account

  • A ChatGPT account, used on the web. Developer mode is available on the free plan as well as paid plans.

  • On Business, Enterprise and Education accounts a workspace admin can turn developer mode off or restrict which connections are allowed. If you cannot find the setting, check with your admin.

Step 1: Turn on developer mode

  1. Open Settings.

  2. Select Security and login.

  3. Turn on Developer mode.

Step 2: Add Thunders

  1. Go to ChatGPT Plugins.

  2. Select the plus button.

  3. Enter a name and description, for example Thunders.

  4. Under Connection, choose Public endpoint and enter the server URL: https://api.thunders.ai/v1/mcp

  5. Create the connection.

  6. Sign in to Thunders when prompted, review the access being requested, and click Authorize.

  7. Review the tools ChatGPT discovered. You should see the Thunders tools listed.

Step 3: Use it in a conversation

Start a new conversation and add the Thunders connection from the tools menu. ChatGPT only calls connections you have switched on for that chat.

Verify it worked

Ask ChatGPT:
