Overview
When your organization enables Enterprise SSO (Single Sign-On) through Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD), existing Thunders users will need to link their current account with their new SSO identity. This process links your existing email/password account with your SSO login, ensuring you retain all your data, settings, and permissions.
This guide walks you through the account link process step by step.
Prerequisites
You must have an existing Thunders account (created via email/password or invitation).
Your organization admin must have enabled SSO for your organization.
You must have access to the SSO identity provider (e.g., Microsoft Entra ID) configured by your organization.
What Is Account Linking?
In Thunders, each user account is identified by a combination of email address + login provider. When SSO is enabled, logging in via your SSO provider creates a new identity. The account link process links this new SSO identity to your existing Thunders account so that:
You keep your existing user profile (name, job title, avatar).
You retain your role and permissions within the organization.
All your test projects, test plans, test cases, and test runs remain associated with your account.
Your organization membership and billing status stay unchanged.
Without linking, the system would treat your SSO login as a separate user, which would cause access issues.
Step-by-Step: How to Link Your SSO Account
1. Log In Using SSO
Navigate to the Thunders login page.
Click the "Continue with Microsoft (Entra ID)" button.
You will be redirected to your organization's identity provider (e.g., Microsoft Entra ID) to authenticate.
2. Account Linking Prompt
After authenticating with your SSO provider, Thunders detects that an account with your email address already exists.
You will see an Account Linking prompt asking whether you want to link your SSO identity to your existing account.
3. Verify Your Existing Account
To confirm that you are the owner of the existing account, you will be asked to log in with your original credentials (email and password).
Enter the email and password you used when you first created your Thunders account or when you accepted your invitation.
4. Confirm the Link
After verifying your credentials, click the "Continue" button to complete the process.
Thunders will link your SSO identity to your existing account.
5. Access Thunders via SSO
From this point forward, you can log in to Thunders using SSO or Email/Password
Your existing data, projects, and permissions are fully preserved.
You will land on your usual dashboard with all your projects intact.
What Data Is Preserved During the Account Linking?
Data / Setting | Preserved? |
User profile (name, email) | Yes |

Organization membership | Yes |
Role and permissions | Yes |
Test projects and test plans | Yes |
Test cases and test runs | Yes |

The link process does not delete or modify any of your existing data. It simply adds a new login method (SSO) to your existing account.
