Product F.A.Q.

Written by Ines

What is Thunders?

Thunders is an AI-powered testing platform that automates the creation, execution, and maintenance of software tests. It helps teams accelerate their QA processes while reducing manual effort.

We empower fast-moving product and QA teams to ship higher-quality software, faster, with less manual effort.

Who is Thunders for?

Thunders is for software teams who want to test faster and smarter, without needing to write code.

If you’re a professional (Business Analyst, Engineer, QA, Business Leader, etc…) looking to automate your testing, save time, and keep up with rapid releases, Thunders is built for you.

No need for coding skills: just describe your tests in plain English, and we take care of the rest, from login flows to data cleanup and advanced scenarios like multi-user interactions.

What types of testing does Thunders support?

Thunders replicates human behavior to automate functional, end-to-end, regression, API, visual, and accessibility testing, on web and on mobile.

It can simulate real user journeys, test everything that happens around your product, and even run security and SEO scans using specialized AI personas.

What are AI Personas in Thunders?

Thunders provides a series of prebuilt virtual agents-experts in specific fields like QA, security, SEO, and more that run tests as if they were real users or specialists.

You can select a persona to simulate specific user behaviors or compliance checks, making your tests realistic and comprehensive.

How does Thunders work?

Our AI-powered testing platform operates at the infrastructure level, automating not just test creation but also execution, maintenance, and feedback.

You can interact with our chat to describe your test cases in plain English, select the environment and persona, and Thunders will generate and run the tests for you.

The platform learns from your product and testing history to continuously improve test relevance and coverage.

Can I add custom steps or integrate with other tools?

Yes. Thunders lets you add custom steps via API calls and use prebuilt tools within the agent to implement advanced or third-party integrations. This means anything a human tester can do, our AI can automate-including complex workflows and external system interactions.

Can I import my existing manual test cases into Thunders?

Yes. Use MCP, wherever your test cases live today:

  • From your test management tool. Add the MCP server of the tool that holds your test cases, such as Jira or Xray, and ask Thunders AI to turn them into Thunders Test Cases.

  • From files. Connect Claude, Cursor or another AI client to the Thunders MCP Server, give it your CSV or Excel files, and ask it to create the Test Cases in your Test Project.

How is Thunders priced?

Thunders uses credits. Each plan includes a monthly credit allowance, and every action in a test consumes a small amount of credit from it. The price of a credit goes down on higher plans and with a yearly volume commitment. Enterprise plans can also use a flat fee with no credit counter.

  • A standard web test step (click, type, navigate, check a value) consumes 0.01 credit.

  • A step on a real iOS or Android device consumes 0.05 credit.

  • A visual comparison, an accessibility check, or a file comparison consumes 0.10 credit.

For current plans and prices, see the Thunders pricing page. For the full list of actions and their cost, see Credit Consumption.

How do I get a lower price per credit at high volume?

Commit to more credits. The price of a credit goes down as your plan grows:

  • A Pro credit costs 20% less than a Starter credit.

  • Yearly billing saves 25% on the Starter and Pro plans.

  • Enterprise plans give a steep discount at high volume. Commit to a yearly credit volume, and the price per credit drops as the commitment grows. You can also choose a flat fee sized on your test scope, with no credit counter.

Above 1,000 credits a month, contact our sales team for an Enterprise quote.

How can I predict and manage my usage?

We provide onboarding support to help you gauge your needs based on your current testing volume. As a guideline, a 20-step web Test Case consumes 0.2 credits per execution. The same Test Case on a mobile device consumes 1 credit.

How does Thunders reduce release risk and manual workload?

Thunders keeps your test suite up-to-date automatically, so you catch regressions early and avoid last-minute surprises. Test maintenance is handled for you, freeing your team to focus on innovation.

How quickly can I see value after adopting Thunders?

Product and delivery teams start seeing results within their first sprint. Teams that use Thunders cut test creation time by 90%, run their tests 10x faster, and spend 88% less time on test maintenance. Our intuitive interface and onboarding support mean you can create and run automated tests within minutes of signing up

Why choose Thunders over AI tools like Cursor, Claude or GitHub Copilot?

While Cursor, Claude or GitHub Copilot help you write tests, Thunders goes further by automating the entire testing lifecycle. Our platform not only creates tests with AI, but also executes and maintains them, while providing the necessary infrastructure.

You get integration with your tools, data portability, and an all-in-one solution that supports your testing from start to finish.

How does Thunders handle security and integrations?

We support IP filtering, firewall compatibility, and secure credential management. Thunders also integrates with your existing tools (Jira, GitHub, CI/CD, etc.) and can connect to third-party systems via API, making it easy to fit into your workflow.

Thunders also works with MCP (Model Context Protocol) in both directions:

  • Use Thunders from your AI tools. The Thunders MCP Server lets Claude, Cursor, VS Code and other AI clients create, run and analyze your tests in Thunders.

  • Give Thunders AI access to your tools. Add a custom MCP server so that Thunders AI can read your tickets, specifications and other data when it writes tests. Custom MCP servers are available on the Pro and Enterprise plans.

Where can I see what changed in the product?

The Thunders release notes list the features and fixes of each release.
